MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING AND LPC SUPERVISION

Hi, I'm Annalisa.

I have two rescue dogs, a master’s degree in counseling, and absolutely zero interest in sitting across from you for fifty minutes nodding and smiling. We’re going to get things done. Probably outside.

Reach Out

Therapy Doesn't Have to Suck.

This is usually the part where therapist websites say something like,

“I believe in a holistic, client-centered approach to healing.”

That’s true. But I think you deserve to know a little more about the person you’re trusting with your story.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent twelve years working in nonprofit organizations and higher education, with experiences that took me to Tanzania, England, France, and New York. My background in anthropology and development taught me a lot about people, resilience, and what it means to navigate difficult seasons of life.

I’ve seen what suffering looks like. I’ve also seen what happens when people get the support they need to stop simply surviving and start living.

That’s the work I want to do with you.

I specialize in anxiety and addiction, working with adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready for something to change. My approach is grounded in CBT, so we focus on understanding what’s keeping you stuck and finding practical ways forward.

At Path & Paws, therapy is also about feeling comfortable enough to be yourself. Sometimes that means having a therapy dog nearby, a little less pressure, and a welcoming space where you can take things at your own pace.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just start where you are. We’ll take it from there—together.

 Also, there will be dogs.

Did You Say Dogs? Meet the Paws Behind Path & Paws.

Benji is a hound mix from West Virginia. He has strong opinions about treats, absolutely no poker face, and a gift for making people laugh at exactly the right moment. When you’ve been taking yourself too seriously for too long, Benji is the intervention you didn’t know you needed.

Clover is a Chihuahua mix who spent some time on the streets of Texas before finding her way to me. She’s sweet, small, and somehow always knows exactly where she’s needed. She’ll curl up beside you without asking permission, and people have been known to say things around Clover that they’ve never said out loud before. She just has that effect.

Both are rescues.

Both are Canine Good Citizens. And both seem to genuinely love their jobs.

They don’t judge, they don’t rush you, and they’re always happy to see you.

Honestly, they might be the best coworkers you could ask for.

I Don't Do This Alone. Here's Why That's Good News For You.

You might be working with one therapist, but behind the scenes, there’s a whole community supporting the work.

I’m part of a network of independently owned therapy practices where therapists share ideas, support each other, and genuinely care about doing this work well. We believe therapists do better work when they’re supported too—and you deserve a therapist who has support behind them.

At Path & Paws, everyone is welcome. We stand for LGBTQ+ affirming care, inclusion, compassion, animal welfare, clinician wellbeing, and the healing connection between people, animals, and nature.

These aren’t just nice things to put on a website. They’re part of who we are.

And yes, there are dogs. So you already know we take the important things seriously.

I'm Ready. Let's Go.

Ready When You Are.

Most people who find their way here have thought about reaching out, then closed the tab at least once. That’s okay. Take your time. When you’re ready, our contact form contact form takes two minutes.

No pressure, paperwork, or commitment—just a conversation to see if we’re a good fit. If we are, wonderful. If we’re not, I’ll help you find someone who is. That’s a promise.
